Deploy that Fabric Blog Tour

October 8, 2011 | Filed Under Uncategorized | 32 Comments

Today I am excited to announce My Bragg bag  is the next stop on the Deploy that Fabric blog tour!

Deploy that Fabric by Jen Eskridge is a wonderful new title from Stash books. For those not familiar with Jen Eskridge’s work- she is one of the first pattern developers for recycling/upcycling military uniforms. She also has helped mentor my own pattern making endeavors– she is an all around fabulous gal and very supportive of her fellow military spouses.

Jen is very talented and has been sewing for years. She publishes her quilting and sewing patterns with her own publishing company, ReannaLily Designs.  Her newly released book is a fantastic addition to her growing company and I am very excited for her!

I also love that I got a sneak peek of the book and am proud to review it. Five golden stars, Jen!!Brillant!

She has 23 Sewing projects packed into this easy to use pattern book! From purses to quilts to stockings to home decor items– GENIUS!

For those who have a fear of cutting into their men or women’s uniform– don’t worry. Easy to use bright photos / diagrams show you the best way to “shred” those uniforms and make them usable pieces for a pattern.

Novice sewers to advanced quilters will appreciate the easy to read and follow instructions found in Deploy that Fabric.  She has a section in the back of the book that walks you through step by step adding zipper pockets, making darts and even how to cut fabric  on the grain-for those who are completely new to sewing

I recommend checking out the adorable and trendy Circle Purse pattern.  It s a perfect addition to a night out on the town.

This book comes at the perfect time for Christmas. Handmade gifts are best and who can resist the idea of your little girl or boy opening her presents in a stocking made from Mommy or Daddy’s uniform?

So now that you have read my gushing review, are you ready for some great news!?!?

I think first off a military uniform means Pride. It also means love and faith. My Daughter was in the Army and when I see her and her buddies in uniform I also think of friendship and fun.

My husband proudly serves in the Army, so whenever I see a uniform it makes me feel so happy that he decided to serve our country.

I “liked” ReannaLily Designs on Facebook. I’m an Army brat, so during the first 17 years of my life I was surrounded by military uniforms. My Dad is a WWII & Korean War veteran (still strong at 91) & my husband is a Vietnam War veteran. Thanks for the giveaway.

A military uniform means safety. I’m so proud of my brother who is currently serving in the military and of other members of my family for their past service.

The Army uniform means freedom for me. It means stability for our family. It means pride for my Children. It means Sacrifice for my Husband. I am so proud of my husband and what he gives each day for this great nation. GOD BLESS AMERICA!

I am very proud of all in uniform. My mother, father, 2 uncles and brother have all served. Nearly all the men on my husband’s side have served as well. I am proud to be related to so many military service members.

My Dad used to serve in the airforce many moons ago (before I was even born). Seeing pictures of him in his uniform, or looking at that uniform itself always fills me with pride and respect, but also makes me think of the sense of dedication and duty that putting that uniform on must hold for anyone currently serving.

To me, a military uniform means loyalty to country. It means putting the greater good/mission before everything else — including self and family.

A military uniform symbolizes “honor, duty and country,” ideals that were instilled in me by my father, a retired Naval Officer, who spent 24 years serving.

I definitely fell a sense of PRIDE. My Dad served more than 20 years in the Air Force and my son is currently serving in the Marine Corps. (Due to deploy to Afghanistan next year). Not everyone would or could serve in the military. Appreciate the men and women who serve and their families who also have their sacrifices. God Bless the USA.

Military uniforms mean a lot to me as a medically retired US Airman and as the wife to a USMC Sergeant who is scheduled for his fourth deployment. Lots of pride and honor in this household.

The military uniform to me means pride.. because you will feel the utmost pride to be able to wear the uniform and fight for the ones you love and the ones you don’t know, bravery.. you must be brave to fight for a county, love.. because you must love the country you live in to put your life on the line, and freedom.. because all the men and women who wear a military uniform fight for our freedom.

I am a military wife, and every time my husband puts it on (even though we are based in the states) means protection, makes me feel safe. It also gives me and all of our families a very strong feeling of pride to have a man serving our country in our family. Thank God for all of our military members, and their service!

A military uniform means more then a thousand words could sum up. They are worn day in and day out by the young and the old, the men and the women of all of the Branch of our military. Even when they are not worn, they still sit upon the shoulder of the Brave men and women who risk their lives daily to make sure we all safe when we go to sleep every night. My husband Uniform leave our house every 4 months and comes back with the smell of a job well done. The represent the pride, courage and strength that our military members, those uniform wearing individuals stand up for.

It means a lot more then I can describe. I am the one who wears it daily. I stand up for the freedom that I, myself receive as well as my wife and my family. Its with great courage and strength from my fellow brothern that we all wear these uniforms.

The uniform, to me, means dedication, devotion, pride, and courage. My hubby has been military for 15 years and I wouldn’t have it any other way. 2 of my brothers went National Guard. I am so proud of them for their self-less service.

Thank you for the opportunity! I “Liked” ReannaLily Designs on Facebook. Now for the other part… it’s pretty hard to narrow down, but I think ultimately, to me, military uniforms mean Family. All of the men in my family have served in the military since WWII. I grew up an Army “brat” and married back into the military. My kids are mil brats; my husband, brother, and several cousins are serving active duty, and my sister just left for basic training a few weeks ago. That means the women in our family who aren’t serving active duty are all serving as spouses, as are their kids. My mom jokes that the military really did “issue” me to my husband. For the few years I wasn’t officially a dependent, I still lived and worked in a military community, where most of my neighbors and customers were serving and I had to “translate” acronyms for the few coworkers who didn’t speak military. ;-)

The military uniform… what’s it mean to me? It means honor, courage, strength, pride, commitment. I mean not everyone would get up early every morning and our that uniform on. But my husband is navy, my brother, is air force. Been deployed twice. I have a friend that was a marine that was killed in combat. So the military uniform means everything.

The uniform means so many things to me.
Pride; In my country, my service, my job, and my self.
History; When i wear it Im reminded that so many before me have put one similar on for many years. Some may have died in it. I want to continue this countries legacy by wearing it and serving this great country in it.
Family; I wear it to protect mine and yours, and while I wear it I am a part of a new family, the defenders of our Freedom.
i could go on but those are the ones that hit home for me.

The Military Uniform has a lot of meaning for me, but above all, sacrifice. My husband sacrifices so much on a daily basis for us, and it makes me believe in everything the United States stands for even more.
